HH Healing Hearts Inc. was born from one mother's experience and grew into an organization dedicated to restoring hope and providing essential support to vulnerable pregnant women, postpartum mothers, children, and families facing hardship through dignity, compassion, and care.
HH Healing Hearts Inc. is a nonprofit organization serving vulnerable pregnant women, nursing mothers, infants, underserved families, and youth with disabilities. We provide essential supplies, health education, and hands-on community support so that families facing hardship can build healthier, more stable lives.
Our Founder
Our founder, Asther Ahmed S.I, was diagnosed with preeclampsia during her second pregnancy—a dangerous condition that claims the lives of tens of thousands of women around the world every year. She survived because she was treated in the United States, allowing her to deliver a premature baby without complications. The only difference between her story and a tragic statistic was simply where she happened to be.
In 2013, while visiting a sick family member at the Wa Regional Hospital in Ghana’s Upper West Region, Asther witnessed a heartbreaking reality that would change her life forever. She saw a system where many pregnant women could not afford basic prenatal care or vital medical necessities, leading to mothers and newborns losing their lives to preventable complications.
The dedicated doctors and nurses worked tirelessly to save lives, but they were constantly held back by severe shortages of critical medical supplies and equipment. In the most challenging moments, healthcare workers were forced to provide care without gloves, stethoscopes, oxygen, or other essential resources.
“I started HH Healing Hearts because I could not unsee what I had seen.”
— Asther Ahmed S.I, Founder & Executive Director
Seeing these challenges firsthand opened her eyes to the urgent need for support, compassion, and basic healthcare access for vulnerable mothers and children. That profound experience planted the seed for what would become HH Healing Hearts Inc.—an organization fiercely dedicated to improving the lives of pregnant women, mothers, children, and families in need.
For years, Asther quietly funded this vital work entirely out of her own pocket. Today, HH Healing Hearts is an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization—and the mission to protect these families now belongs to all of us.
What We Stand For
Every family we encounter is treated with dignity, warmth, and genuine care — not as a case number, but as a person with a name, a story, and worth.
We believe the work we do in Pennsylvania is connected to the work we do in Ghana. Human dignity knows no borders, and neither does our mission.
We don't swoop in and leave. We build long-term relationships — with families, with communities, and with the institutions that serve them.
The mothers and families we serve have wisdom we don't. We listen before we act, and we advocate for systemic change alongside immediate relief.
Our goal is never dependency. We work to equip individuals and communities with what they need to thrive long after we're in the room.
Showing up once is easy. Showing up every season, every year — that's what communities can count on. We are a consistent, caring presence.
