Our Story
It didn't begin in a boardroom.
It began in a hospital ward.
Our founder, Asther A S Issifu, was diagnosed with preeclampsia during her second pregnancy — a condition that kills tens of thousands of women around the world every year. She survived because she was treated in the United States, and she delivered her premature baby without complications.
The only difference between her story and a tragedy was where she happened to be.
In 2013, while visiting a sick family member at Wa Regional Hospital in Ghana's Upper West Region, Asther witnessed a heartbreaking reality that changed her life forever. Many pregnant women could not afford prenatal care or even basic medical necessities. Mothers and newborns were losing their lives due to lack of access to essential healthcare. Doctors and nurses worked tirelessly — but often without gloves, stethoscopes, oxygen, or other critical supplies.
Seeing these challenges firsthand opened her eyes to the urgent need for support, compassion, and access to basic healthcare for vulnerable mothers and children. That experience planted the seed that grew into HH Healing Hearts Inc.
For years, Asther funded this work out of her own pocket. Today, HH Healing Hearts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit — and the mission belongs to all of us.
